Marks in the stone dictated the top mountain motif. I placed objects together for scale and cohesiveness. The contrasts of limestone and rusted steel excite my design strategies along with weathered wood and stone available. I had a piece of slate that has beautiful rusty red color that went well with these other materials and their textures. The limestone is a nice soft white. The western landscape inspires me with these materials. The limestone is smooth all around except for the top with it's weathered edge and on the top right with two parallel lines representing the long thin contrail clouds found amid the western sky.
